The Panther
by Kimberly Bower
She walks in beauty, like the night
Her powerful body glistening
Damped by the chase
The antelope panting
gripped by fear
knows he is doomed
even as the panther draws near
The hunt is short
The panther quick
But in an odd twist of fate
The antelope slips
The poacher’s pit cuts the panther’s hunt short
The panther resigns
But finds another sport.
