While the spirit of neighborliness was important on the frontier because neighbors were so few, it is even more important now because our neighbors are so many. ~Lady Bird Johnson
It is extremely difficult to witness tragedies from afar. When you’re on the scene or in the neighborhood you can find ways to join together with other community members to do something tangible to help the survivors and their families.
On the other hand, if you live far away from ‘ground zero’ you may feel distraught and think that there isn’t any way to help because of the distance. I would suggest to you that one of the most powerful ways you can help is to pray. Many times we feel that prayer is a good accompaniment to ‘doing something’ but don’t realize that it IS doing something, something powerful!
I put forth a challenge to both you and myself. Let’s pray first, whether we live near Boston or far away, and see what God will do.
