The secret to living the life of your dreams is to start living the life of your dreams today, in every little way you possibly can. — Mike Dooley
I’ve heard Christians both young and old say “I don’t know what I am supposed to be doing. What if I miss my destiny?” Destiny can be such a scary word, supposedly one little point on the landscape of life. I’m not convinced that destiny is a once-in-a-lifetime event. I believe it is more of a journey. Let me assure you that God has a good plan for your life.
God has planted the seeds of your destiny within you. Have you discovered what that might look like? Think about that project, job or hobby that makes you feel most alive. Is it helping children? Is it telling others about what God has done for you? Is it seeking a solution to a great social dilemma? Is it starting a new business venture? Whatever it is, it will be something that you are so passionate about that you absolutely have to do it. It will be a project that energizes you rather than drains you of your strength. It will “drive you crazy” if you don’t consistently move in that direction.
Dr. Norman Benz, lead pastor of Covenant Centre International, says: If you don’t know what to do, just keep doing the last thing you know God told you to do until He gives you a new word.
Stay on task. Continue seeking God every day. Stay tuned in to the Holy Spirit and follow His lead. Don’t be concerned if He moves you in another direction. It is possible to come to a point in a project when you have completed your role and someone else is to take the reins. Maybe you have reached the goal of that project. Maybe you sense the Holy Spirit telling you to move in a different direction, either a literal or spiritual relocation. Whatever it is, this doesn’t mean you’ve veered off the path. You’re just about to make a shift in your life journey, to discover a new stage in this journey called life.
Destiny is a journey, one that begins with a single step. Look around you. Do you see God’s activity anywhere? The secret to fulfilling your destiny is to keep seeking God, keep moving forward with the things God has already told you to do, join with God in the activities He is already blessing today and be open to move with the Holy Spirit. He will guide you each step of the way.
