Pop-Up Cards: Over 50 Designs for Cards That Fold, Flap, Spin, and Slide by Mary Kumada

Pop.up cards

Pop-Up Cards: Over 50 Designs for Cards That Fold, Flap, Spin, and Slide by Mari Kumada is an English translation of the Japanese book, Kawaii Pop-Up Card. The book is laid out in lesson format. In the first three lessons, Kumada provides instruction for three types of folded cards that pop up when the card is opened: horizontal, vertical and v-fold. Lessons 4-6 give detailed instructions for pop-up coils, cones and cubes.

Each photograph provides additional inspiration by capturing the ambiance of the card’s intended purpose. For example, in one photo a birthday party card is offset by a miniature china tea party set.

Some paper crafting experience is needed as the author does not define terms such as mountain and valley folding. I would recommend this title for advanced-beginner to expert crafters.

NOTE: I requested and received a copy of this title via NetGalley.com but made no commitment to review it.

I'd love to discuss this with you. What do you think?
